Tonight’s Theological Conundrum

Question:

If there was no sickness or disease in the Garden of Eden and if it was God’s plan that we should live in the Garden, in fellowship with him for all eternity, then why does the human body have an elaborate and intricate immune system?

That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.

So… Yeah. Answer that one, Mum. =P

Isn’t it obvious? I beleive the answer is something akin to the following:

“Some find that hard to believe, so it may be helpful to tell you a little more about our beliefs. We have evidence that a Flying Spaghetti Monster created the universe. None of us, of course, were around to see it, but we have written accounts of it. We have several lengthy volumes explaining all details of His power. Also, you may be surprised to hear that there are over 10 million of us, and growing. We tend to be very secretive, as many people claim our beliefs are not substantiated by observable evidence. What these people don’t understand is that He built the world to make us think the earth is older than it really is. For example, a scientist may perform a carbon-dating process on an artifact. He finds that approximately 75% of the Carbon-14 has decayed by electron emission to Nitrogen-14, and infers that this artifact is approximately 10,000 years old, as the half-life of Carbon-14 appears to be 5,730 years. But what our scientist does not realize is that every time he makes a measurement, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is there changing the results with His Noodly Appendage. We have numerous texts that describe in detail how this can be possible and the reasons why He does this. He is of course invisible and can pass through normal matter with ease. “

God is all knowing, right? So he prolly knew Adam was gonna screw up eating that apple and bringing evil and sin into our world. So he figured, well we best be addin’ an immune system.

The conundrum I see, is if God is so all knowing and what not, then why didn’t he make it so Adam wouldn’t screw everything up?

Course if that was the case, I’m afraid our world would be ridden with happy good christians. So maybe God knew that the world would be a little cooler with a little evil here and there. He’s prolly right on that one.

or maybe diseases rock the casbah but we misinterpret them as the devil, or god needed a way to kill people he didn’t like, or they are his way of testing people, or…

our immune system isn’t intricate, it’s just the “expected value” with respect to years of different configurations of systems that happen to destroy contaminates for us.

What is this god you speak of?!
