At 6:15 this morning I awoke to my suite-mate* coming and shoving the phone in my direction, indicating that it was for me. “Hello,” I half-heartedly muttered, trying to sound bright eyed and cheery in spite of the terrible hour (it was still very dark outside).
“Good morning, this is the Montana State Police Department,” came the reply. I was a bit concerned, and hoped that it was something innocent like my bike being stolen. I couldn’t think of anything that I’d done worthy of having the police call me, but I was a wee bit concerned just the same.
As our conversation progressed, I was informed that the police officer had been requested to contact me by the city of Bozeman, who was scheduled to do street repairs where my car was parked. I was told that I needed to move it immediately in order to avoid having it towed. And so I did. To set the record straight, when I parked my car on the street on Sunday night there were no signs to be seen. When I arrived at my car this morning, the street had been blocked off with cones, and there were signs posted all over “street closed for repair / no parking.” My car was the only one parked on the block.
I moved my car and the whole episode was over, except my bitterness that I was deprived of two hours of precious sleep because the City of Bozeman couldn’t come up with any other way of alerting me that I needed to move my car. A sign, a notice, or even a phone call during a decent waking hour would have been so much more considerate. Psh. Oh well. I’m just glad that I didn’t get arrested.
It’s such a beautiful day today. It’s been a beautiful fall (thus far). The leaves are just reaching their apogee of colors, and it’s warm and sunny outside. I’m quite upset with myself that I ended up spending time inside on my COMPUTER looking at blue-tooth mice instead of being outside riding my bike. Psh. I’ll do better next time. I’ll still sore from running yesterday…
In other news, I did very well on my MTA 101 test. In a class of ~180 students, only three students out-scored me. Just what my already bulging ego needed. Go me. =)
Nothing else of significance has happened in the past few days.
Best regards.
