FAQ

What’s up with this new, WordPress-looking blog?

Until recently, eateggs.com was powered by blogging software I wrote in high school. Despairing of poor SERP in the era of Web 2.0 and lacking the ambition to learn how to use mod_rewrite (“Despite the tons of examples and docs, mod_rewrite is voodoo. Damned cool voodoo, but still voodoo. ” — Brian Moore), I decided to migrate to WordPress. And, since we’re on the theme of lacking ambition, do your worst and guess why eateggs.com now looks uncannily similar to a certain stock WordPress theme.

What’s up with this Janrain OpenID log-in thingy?

I’m honestly quite thrilled that you even read by blog at all. Asking you to keep track of yet another username / password pair in order to post comments strikes me as a bit too much to ask. So, authenticate against Facebook, Google, or the OpenID provider of your choice. Just remember to be consistent in the one you choose.

What about all my comments from when you were 17?

They’re still there. Log in once with your OpenID provider of choice, and I might even try to figure out how to link your new account to your old one. Depending, of course, on how ambitious I’m feeling…

I want an avatar!

Good. Go to www.gravatar.com, create an account, upload an avatar and … if by some magic things work like they’re supposed to, you’ll have an avatar. Added bonus: you can use gravatar for other WordPress sites!

Where did all of your old posts go?

They’re still there. I have a problem with my SQL query at the moment, however, so the list of archives does not display correctly.

How do I see the interesting posts?

Log in once using your OpenID provider of choice. Then wait a few days. If you get impatient, feel free to email me (or post nasty comments).

Wait … there are interesting posts?

Yup! Well, salacious posts, at the very least. Unfortunately, the internet being what it is these days, I’ve learned better than to post my wise-cracks in the great wide-open. So, to see my snarkier side, you’ll have to log in (and then wait for me to update your access level, if I deem it appropriate).
